Monogram Linens

Yesterday over at Attic Charm, Laura's post was all about The Beauty of The Upper Case. She wrote about her love of monograms and said she didn't have examples of the elaborate entwined letters so often on vintage linens. I thought I would share some photos from my linen collection.

I'm particularly fond of the intertwining M and A in the center.
I bought a collection of monogram linens at an estate sale some years ago. When I look at them now, they remind me of my Silver Bella swap partner. They might be her daughter's initials if R is her middle name.

I like this one, but what are those letters?

I actually believe this is E and T.
One really needs magical powers to decipher it!

Is this a monogram where the last initial is largest in the middle?

Can you see initials in this? I can't!
But it's the most wonderful heavy-weight linen towel, large enough to dry a person after a bath.

Hope you have enjoyed these.
Now back to ironing more linens for the shop!

I have several of hubby's grandmother's linens with a "W" on them, and your last monogrammed linen looks very much like the ones I have. ;)

Hi Marilee!

Oh thank you sweet girl, for posting these pictures of such lovely monograms...they are exactly what I was talking about! What an amazing linen collection you have - I love the white on white. My favorite is the one on the right hand side of that second photo. It is so funny how one can't tell what letters they are, isn't it? It's like a secret code :).

Oh how I wish I could visit your store on beautiful Cape Cod. It's a long way from Colorado! Maybe some day I'll find myself in that area-

I hope you don't mind, I've added a link in my post back to your post ...hope we don't get readers into an infinite loop hehe-

Have a wonderful day!

I think the mystery one is ECR with a decorative corner under the E. The E and the T have an H between them, it looks like to me. Hope that helps.

very cool. i had read and enjoyed laura's post, too. i love fonts.

when i was little i was so intrigued by a monogrammed towel of my nana's. i still remember it. stiff and blue. i was so curious where there was a B in the middle: her maiden name.

love the purple CRS. pretty photos!

Amazing that they cared so much for their linens that they embroidered their initials - nowadays everything is so ready made isn't it?

Marilee, I chuckled when I read this post. I have a cache of monogrammed linens, as well......many of which, have beautifully stitched "mystery" initials. I haven't been able to break the DIVINCI linen code either, but I love the way they look and feel. Love that pink A, and E T is pretty cool too.

Best Wishes,
Kay
